The cold front that has had everyone shivering across Victoria continues to dump more beautiful powdery snow onto the slopes here at Mt Buller.
25cm fell overnight bringing the average snowdepth around the mountain to 56cms and the steady sub-sero temperatures are delighting the snowmakers who have their guns blazing on all the major runs ahead of plans to open for the weekend.
“The cold temperatures are ideal for snowmaking and it’s great to have our snowguns working overtime across the resort building a consistent base for the season ahead,” said Buller Ski Lifts general ganager Laurie Blampied.
“Our focus at the moment is on getting the best quality base possible in place to take advantage of these heavy and early falls.
“The combination of snowmaking and natural snow will set us up very well for the weeks ahead.
“We are expecting plenty of skiers and boarders to head up here this weekend and our priority is delivering them the best possible conditions.”
Buller Ski Lifts propose to begin opening some lifts on Friday ahead of more lifts opening on the weekend.
“We will assess conditions as we go this week, but with the snow falling at the rate it is and the snowmaking operations going so well we anticipate a bumper weekend is on the way,” Mr Blampied said.
